Final numbers for the day:

Carrots:  19
Sticks:     1

Damnit.  My very first day, and I already got a Stick. :< :<

I'm going to play with this system for a few days to determine what the mean number of tasks is that I usually get on my list.  From that I can set the price per task to something that won't break the bank.  If it continues to be 20 tasks a day (and this could easily have been decomposed into 30 or 40), then I may drop the payment rate from $1 to $0.50 or even less just so as not to strain the pocket book so much.  Whatever it ends up at, it will apply to both Carrots and Sticks, and I won't change the amount that's already in the jars.

I think I may also tighten the rules up that tasks cannot be added to the list "for credit" during the day.  That will drive me to get better at estimating how big the plate is before I fill it.  I'm going to think about that one for a few days as well, before I put it into effect.

Various thoughts:
  • Workout related:
    • I hurt.  Particularly the legs.
    • Actually, the legs hurt A LOT.
    • I was surprised at the differences between yesterday's workout performance and today's.  I could keep better form on pushups and found them easier, but running the stairs was flat out impossible...I lumbered from 1-4, then walked the rest of the way.  Breathing maybe slightly better when I finally arrived, but I still felt like I'd been hit by a truck.
  • Definitely set today up to be an easy win.  I did a bunch of email and watched the end of Dollhouse (which I had started last night) before really digging in, and still got through everything by COB.  Tomorrow's load is a bit heavier, but I think still managable--only two tasks that take me substantially out of the house.  It seems like it's the errands that kill my day.  This is definitely the right way to go--add things slowly until I get better at the time management.
