Damnit. One of my items today was simple: "Walk over to Barnes and Noble, pick up the books that they are holding for me." I went there, even thought ahead enough to bring my backpack because the books in question are large and would be a pain to carry in a bag. I also made sure to bring my Dad's mail (at least, I'm pretty sure the AARP is not sending me anything yet....) that accidentally ended up at my address, so that I could go straight from there to dinner with my Dad, if things worked out that way (I had plenty of time, a couple hours, but...ya know...BOOKSTORE). On the way over I even did the math on how long it had been since I last ate, how long until I next ate, and stopped and had some cheese fries to tide me over so as to avoid the shaking and falling over.
So here I am being all smart and forethoughtful. I get to B&N, trot merrily upstairs to see if the new Dresden book has come out yet (answer: sort of but not really; see below), get into a couple of good conversations with people about authors that we like, look at several books, find a couple things that have just come out but decide to get them from http://www.webscriptions.net/ for ~$6 instead of in hardcover for ~$25, and then happily saunter out of the store, ready to head home.
Ok, for everyone playing along at home, what did NOT happen in the above description? That's right. I didn't pick up the stinking books that I stinking well went there to stinking get. Argh. I get a Stick and have to pay my rat bastard Recipient because I simply spaced out on something so bloody simple?! And I can't go back and get it now--the store closed already.
