Today, I got an iPhone. I've been techno-lusting over them for more than a year now, but have held off; at first there were all these little nitpicky issues. Then I got my new Verizon phone, and it really did everything I needed, plus it had a full keyboard to make texting easy. That full keyboard was transformative--suddenly SMS became useful to me, and I started using it a lot. I hope the iPhone does the same thing with regard to Web use.
I've transferred my number from Verizon to AT&T, so calls will continue to work, no problem. I still have the old phone; I'll need to rekey all the contacts and such, which is annoying but oh well. So far, I'm pretty pleased with the iPhone, although there are a couple of minor issues: you can't turn it to landscape mode to send SMS, which means you have to type with one finger instead of two thumbs. Also, there is no way to send a picture message, which is a drag. One interesting thing: the power cord is a USB A-to-propietary-connector cable, with an adapter that turns the USB A into a regular 2 prong power plug.
In other good news, I'm starting up a Dresden Files RPG game, and I have my first 3 players. I think we're actually going to have our first session next Saturday, which means I better get it in gear as far as plotting and planning. That will be a large part of tomorrow's activity.
