Got back from BiCamp late yesterday, spent today digging out from under ~1400 messages and getting back to the swing of things. I wanted to jot down some quick thoughts while they were still relatively fresh. Full post later:
1) Cool people that I met for the first time: hrm. I had put a list here but on second thought, I think I won't. I'm not sure if any of them would object to having their names published.
2) Nick (no other information, so hopefully this is ok) gave me the best game of chess I've had in ages (it ended in a draw); we were extremely closely matched, which is why it was so much fun. I suspect that Nick is actually substantially better than I am but is just rusty at the moment. Most everyone that I play with is either enormously better than I am or is at the "the horsey moves in an L, right?" skill level.
3) Teaching swing dancing was fun, but it's hard to teach a whole crowd simultaneously. I see why the lessons are normally one-on-one (or one teacher to one couple).
4) Reading and MST3King The Eye of Argon was a blast. And I admit to stealing some of the better quotes from the online MST3K of it. Everyone who participated seemed to have fun...Jay even came up to me and said "Thanks for subjecting me to The Eye of Argon" afterwards!
Ok, eat and work more now. Type more later.
